This is a roleplay journal for the character Belle for [info]paixaorpg

Player's Name: Ruevian (just Rue is fine)
AIM/email: angstblossom on AIM
LJ: nefariousgrey

Character: Belle
Series: Beauty and the Beast
Version: Movies only, not from any of the Kingdom Hearts games, before meeting the Beast.
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Of average height and weight, Belle’s most extraordinary feature is her face – heart shaped and delicate, with expressive honey brown eyes rimmed with dark lashes and sweeping, feminine brows. Her dark brown hair is wavy and thick, in varying layers down to the middle of her back, usually pulled back in a practical ponytail at the nape of her neck with a bow. Sometimes her hair seems almost auburn in the sunlight. A stubborn lock of hair often escapes from her forehead to fall over her eyes. When she smiles, two small but deep dimples form on either side of her full lips.

Belle’s clothing is simple and comfortable, as if she has more important concerns than dresses. She wears a sky blue, ankle-length tunic dress over a conservative, crisp white shirt with comfortably loose sleeves, rolled up to the middle of her forearm. Over this is a white apron tied at the waist – she often carries small books or papers in the two pockets sewn into the underside. Her shoes are just as practical as the rest of her outfit – dark, durable leather flats.

When adventuring, she wraps up in a dark blue cloak with an ample hood.

Personality: Belle is no shy bookworm – she’s unafraid to speak her mind and is constantly curious about new people and places...perhaps to her detriment. She’s generally kind and gentle, her voice calm and melodious, but she has a surprisingly sharp tongue when her temper is roused, though she’s not easy to anger. She’s the type to affect diplomacy over force, to talk things out rather than come to rash conclusions.

Despite an overall rational mind, Belle is an avid daydreamer. Absent-minded and imaginative, she can sometimes appear naïve or foolish. Despite her innocence, a lifetime of being “different” has made her a quietly cynical skeptic...she longs to believe the tales of romance and adventure she reads but can’t find it within herself to truly believe they exist. She continues to hope, however, and would never disparage someone who did believe.

Belle still longs for adventure. Unable to follow the trend of most women in her world, a quiet provincial life with a husband and kids and dogs is just not something she wants for herself. Desperate to escape the monotony of such a future, she takes her comfort in the books she reads and the worlds she dreams.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Belle has no magic or skill for battle, really. She can run, jump, climb, ect. as well as the next peasant girl. She is, however, rather intelligent and a quick study. Some could argue that her gentle personality and compassion are her greatest strengths.

Weaknesses: Outside of the normal physical weaknesses that all average humans possess, Belle’s curious nature can land her into trouble if she’s not careful. She’s also quite stubborn when particularly passionate about something and sometimes has a hard time letting go of a preconceived judgment.

History: Belle’s mother died when she was just a baby. It was Maurice, Belle’s father, that raised her. As such, she was dragged from village to village as her inventor father continually made himself an outcast with his bizarre and often dangerous experiments and inventions. Guilty by association, Belle was always considered a bit weird herself (why would a woman read, for goodness sakes?). Because she loved her father and was secretly hurt by the constant rejection, Belle in turn politely snubbed others, taking solace in the books her father would bring from his travels.

It was the most recent village that Belle felt the most at odds with. Now a woman grown, she was starting to receive suitors despite her status as outsider. The most ardent suitor was Gaston, the village hero. Gaston had no concepts of life outside of his own accomplishments and was selfish, cruel and ignorant. Never taking no for an answer, his courtship of Belle turned to harassment. And because Belle rejected him, still preferring her books to his masculine company, the townspeople were even more cold.

So it was really sort of a blessing when she found herself suddenly facing a brand new world.
